Event ║ 2026 Cultural Day

On May 18th, students, faculty, and staff from across the International College (and across the globe!) came together to celebrate Cultural Day. This year, the festivities centered around a showcase, where invitees were welcome to share songs, dances, dishes, and outfits that reflected their connection to their homes. Special attendees including Professor Yi-Chun Chin of GUPS, Chiara Labanti of Electrical Engineering, and our very own MPB Director Ko came to join the festivities. The IC Salon was filled with students in colorful costumes, the sound of music and laughter, and the scent of baked goods from campus’ very own Liyang Bakery.

After the guests were welcomed and refreshments were served, Mohammed, an MPB student from Tanzania taught a welcoming song specially translated into English and Swahili. Emilia, a graduating MPB student from the United States, lead the party in working through a New York Times crossword puzzle. Ricky, another graduating MPB student from Haiti shared a presentation introducing his country, from its history to cuisine, even introducing a Haitian restaurant in Taipei! Filip, a first year GUPS student from Macedonia got the room up and moving by teaching a traditional Macedonian dance. Inspired by Filip’s dance, two students from Mexico, Carolina from MPB and Misael from Smart MHI, shared a Mexican line dance. Attendees danced up until the very end of the event, reflecting the diverse, energetic, and cheerful people that make the International College so special.

From all of us at the IC, we sincerely wish you a strong end of the school year. 加油!
