On May 21, 2025, the International College of National Taiwan University (NTU) warmly welcomed a student delegation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA. A series of visits centered around the theme of “Technology and Innovation” was thoughtfully arranged to help international students gain deeper insights into Taiwan’s advancements in high-tech industries and higher education.
The visit began with a seminar on semiconductors, delivered by NTU faculty members. The lecture provided an in-depth overview of Taiwan’s global influence in the semiconductor industry, its technological strengths, and future development trends, offering students a broad perspective on the field.
Following the seminar, the students visited NTU’s Maker Space, where they were introduced to the university’s efforts in fostering innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and student-led learning. The tour showcased NTU’s rich educational resources and creative learning environment.
The group then joined a campus tour, exploring NTU’s historical landmarks and experiencing its vibrant and diverse academic atmosphere.
The final stop was a visit to NTU’s cleanroom, where students observed the operation of high-tech research facilities up close and learned about semiconductor manufacturing and precision engineering. This experience further enriched their understanding of Taiwan’s technological capabilities.
This visit not only deepened UIUC students’ knowledge of Taiwan’s technology and education systems but also strengthened academic exchange and cooperation between the two institutions.
